I enjoyed the Beading exercise as it shows how learning opportunities comes from everywhere. It also taught how to see things the interwoven. Noelle Pepin did her doctorate on this, the amount of skill as a researcher and an educator. I hope to one day reach that level on knowledge in my own field to create things. It also presented the nuance of having an activity in the classroom, we all quickly found that without a fire to burn the edges of the rope we could not actually bead the string. These are the unexpected variables in teaching that can happen sometimes, you have a great idea and feels easy and then you spend half your lesson actually setting things up. I am finding that I enjoy speaking to my peers a lot more in this program than I did in university in general. The beading presented us someone who is interwove and brought to the forefront First Nations teachings in their practice.
