This standard basically asks that teachers know their stuff, if you don’t know the subject area your teaching you will educate yourself and use your knowledge to educate students. When I had my LOP I was in a position of survival where all I had was my expertise on the subject and a stubbornness to get through it. All I had to fall back on was the knowledge of the source material. I was lucky enough to take over social studies classes so I was able to rely on my education and my own natural ability to teach to get me through it.
